1. About Know Oak Park

Know Oak Park is an independent digital publication operated by KnowMedia LLC. We publish journalism, news, investigative reporting, analysis, commentary, criticism, opinion, community information, political commentary, humor, satire, parody, cartoons, and other editorial content.

Such works may reference or depict real individuals, businesses, organizations, public officials, governmental bodies, public controversies, or actual events while incorporating exaggeration, irony, absurdity, fictional elements, caricature, rhetorical devices, or imaginative scenarios.

Satirical, parodic, humorous, and cartoon content is not intended to be understood as literal factual reporting unless the surrounding context clearly indicates otherwise.

Readers should evaluate such material in context, including its format, labeling, tone, subject matter, and presentation.

4. Editorial Independence

KnowMedia LLC retains editorial discretion over the content published by Know Oak Park.

This includes discretion regarding:

• Headlines, illustrations, cartoons, photographs, and presentation.

Know Oak Park's writers, editors, contributors, and other personnel may publish under their legal names, pen names, pseudonyms, collective bylines, or without individual attribution. Nothing on this website should be interpreted as a representation that a byline or other displayed name is an individual's legal name.

Nothing in these Terms requires KnowMedia LLC to publicly disclose the identity of its owners, managers, employees, writers, editors, contributors, contractors, or sources except as required by applicable law.

5. Corrections and Requests for Response

We welcome good-faith reports of material factual errors.

A request for correction should identify the specific article or content at issue, the particular statement believed to be inaccurate, and information supporting the requested correction.

6. News Tips, Sources, and Confidentiality

Know Oak Park welcomes news tips, documents, story ideas, photographs, recordings, public records, and other information.

Sending information through ordinary email, a contact form, social media, comments, or another non-secure method does not, by itself, establish an agreement that your identity or information will remain confidential.

Do not assume that communications are privileged or confidential unless KnowMedia LLC has expressly agreed otherwise.

Nothing in these Terms requires KnowMedia LLC to disclose confidential journalistic sources, unpublished editorial materials, newsgathering materials, or other information protected from disclosure under applicable law.

7. Intellectual Property

You may:

• Represent our work as your own.
• Use Know Oak Park or KnowMedia LLC branding in a way that falsely suggests sponsorship, endorsement, or affiliation.

Nothing in these Terms is intended to restrict lawful fair use or other rights provided by applicable copyright law.

8. Automated Access, Scraping, and Artificial Intelligence

Except with our written authorization or as permitted by applicable law, you may not use bots, crawlers, scrapers, automated agents, data-mining systems, artificial intelligence training systems, large-scale retrieval systems, or similar technologies to systematically obtain, reproduce, store, extract, republish, or create datasets from Know Oak Park content.

You may not circumvent technical measures designed to restrict automated access, rate limits, access controls, robots directives, or other measures used to protect the website.

Ordinary indexing by legitimate search engines is permitted to the extent allowed by our technical controls.

We reserve the right to restrict automated systems or networks that interfere with website operation, impose excessive load on our infrastructure, circumvent technical restrictions, or violate these Terms.

9. User Comments and Other User Content

You are solely responsible for User Content that you submit.

KnowMedia LLC may moderate, edit, reject, disable, or remove User Content in its discretion but has no obligation to monitor all User Content.

User Content represents the views of the individual submitting it and not KnowMedia LLC.

To the extent provided by applicable law, including 47 U.S.C. § 230, KnowMedia LLC shall not be treated as the publisher or speaker of information provided by another information content provider.

Nothing in these Terms should be interpreted as expanding or restricting protections otherwise available to KnowMedia LLC under federal or state law.

By submitting User Content for publication, you grant KnowMedia LLC a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to reproduce, publish, display, distribute, edit, format, archive, and promote that material in connection with Know Oak Park and its related services.

You represent that you possess the rights necessary to grant this license.

10. User Responsibility and Indemnification for Submissions

You remain legally responsible for material you submit to Know Oak Park.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless KnowMedia LLC and its owners, employees, writers, editors, contractors, and agents from claims, liabilities, damages, judgments, losses, and reasonable legal expenses arising from User Content you submit, your infringement of another person's rights, or your unlawful use of the website.

This provision does not require you to indemnify KnowMedia LLC for claims arising solely from material independently created by KnowMedia LLC.

11. No Professional Advice

Content on Know Oak Park is provided for journalistic, informational, commentary, and entertainment purposes.

Nothing published on the website constitutes legal, financial, medical, tax, investment, or other professional advice.

When we do, we will update the effective date shown above.

Your continued use of the website after revised Terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect to the fullest extent permitted by law.

20. No Waiver

Our failure to enforce a provision of these Terms does not constitute a waiver of that provision or of our right to enforce it later.
